About the event
Join us in our effort to take down a 24'x56' barn that we plan to reconstruct at Fruitdale Farm. It's a big job for just one person but could go pretty quickly with several hands on the job. This is a volunteer event where we will be using hand tools to dismantle the barn, piece by piece. The entire barn has been nailed together, so the primary tools needed are pry bars and hammers. All of the dismantled materials will then be stacked in organized piles until they can be transported to Fruitdale Farm. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We will meet at the barn location at 10am, break for lunch at 1 (Lunch is on us. We'll either go to the Paxton Restaurant or the Amish bakery in Bainbridge. After lunch, we will continue working until 4pm.
Physical Requirements: This job requires a good bit of physical endurance and strength. The vast majority of the work will involve prying nails loose from metal siding/roofing and the wooden framing and then stacking the materials into organized piles.
What to Bring: Bring a water bottle and dress appropriately for the weather and dirty working conditions. Rugged footwear is recommended. Bring a good pair of work gloves (leather or rubber coated) and, perhaps, a pair of ear plugs (there will be lots of banging). Also, please bring any hammers or pry bars/tools that you may have.
Location: 255 Cliff Run Rd, Bainbridge, OH 45612 (near Paint Creek State Park)
