- Materials: gathering and processing of materials from the wild.
- Basket Types: Learn and see examples of a variety of baskets, including plaited, twill plaited, wicker plaited and coiled baskets.
- Weaving: Fern will demonstrate the process then guide you as you work on your own basket.

This workshop will be led by earth skills expert, Fern Truitt.
About the instructor: Fern Truitt is a naturalist and a Jill-of-all trades. She grew up learning many primitive skills and, after much study and practice, has become an expert. She leads workshops on a wide variety of these skills including friction fire, collecting wild edibles, blacksmithing, basket weaving, primitive cooking, tracking, bow making, etc. She is also an experienced gardener and hunter and she preserves much of her own food. Fern has a wealth of knowledge and experience; you'll be surprised how much you can learn by spending a day with her.
This will be a potluck event. Please bring a dish to share, along with your own reusable plate/bowl/cup/spoon/fork to help reduce waste. We hope to see you there!
